Default D SERIES AUTO TRANNY HELP

i have a 98 civic ex auto that i just bought with a bad tranny i realized on the civic with bad tranny the cable to change the gears is on the bottom but on this new tranny auto also that i just bought is a 97 and it doesnt have the same thing as the old tanny to connect the cable on the bottom.How can i make this work? thanks

Your pic isn't working, upload it to a site like photobucket and then post the link. Btw, what model did the replacement transmission come from? It has to be from another '96 - '00 EX, DX/LX transmissions wont work (well, they will work, but they'll throw a mainshaft sensor code)

I can't tell from your picture but it sounds like you have the wrong transmission. 1996-2000 are all the same design. The only difference is the ratio for the EX vs the DX/LX model. You will need to be sure that you replace yours with an EX 4-6 VIN "EJ8" or you will have speed sensor codes and it will not work properly.

The 4-6 vin on the tranny is ej7 and I checked the year of the tranny and it's a 1997 transmission

That's an HX CVT transmission, it wont work for you. They're worth money though, they were notorious for going bad and being difficult to find used. They only fit '96 - '00 HX coupes.

The one you want will be from an EJ8.
