HI everyone i have a 99 civic Hx and my trans is slipping

I was told i will need a rebuild

But the civic Hx comes with a rare and expensive transmission with CVT that i cant afford to rebuild

I have found 96-00 civic ex and dx trans on ebay for cheap, will these trans fit my hx with no problems??

I am a Honda Technician and I know that at my work we always warranty HX auto transmissions. I have done them on HX's with 150,000 + miles. I would check your local Honda Dealership and you might be able to get a Honda Reman. Trans under warranty.
Just a thought.
And to answer your question those trannys will fit but I don't know how the ecu will react.

no its not covered under warranty because it has 250k miles
if i was gonna use an ex trans can i just use a ex ecu??

Yes you could use a auto ex ecu if you put in the ex auto trans.

ok so all i need is a 99-00 ex tranny and a 99-00 ex ecu and i should be fine huh?

I doubt the Y5 would run correctly using a Y8 ECU for several reasons.

I dont think the guy still posts here, specially because it was a 5 year old post.

But, you can install the transmission no problem as long as you use the correct ecu , this case EX .

But the problem is the Y5 does not RUN well/correctly with the EX ecu. So while you are at it, swap out the Y5 and install a y7 or y8 and transmission of liking with ecu of the motor you picked up.

so its best to do a whole swap motor and trans from a y7 or y8 trany,motor,harness and ecu rite save hasle
