Default B- series half shaft

Hey HT members,

so I was taking my driver side axle off my 97 GSR and I noticed this clip like ring on the driver end of my half shaft. Is this something that came off my driver axle or is this something that has to stay on the half shaft. Please help. I have no idea what it's needed for. I bought a new axle but noticed there was no ring on it.

That helps lock your axle to the halfshaft. Your passenger axle has a similar ring. Try to start with it lined up to the teeth somewhat, it will make your install a little smoother.

So just to make sure. This ring is suppose to be on half shaft and I should not remove it. Just wanted to make sure before I put on the new axle.

Yes. It is required to be there.
