Anyone ever bolt the front of their tranny to the traction bar?
Thats what the previous owner of my car did, to keep the front of the engine from moving too much because the turbo rubs the radiator.
If anyone has seen any of my posts this year, you might know I've been battling a vibration/shuddering issue when I step on the throttle in 3rd gear, sometimes 2nd and 4th. I am thinking this may be the culprit.
Its a b18 swap crx with hasport mounts. Since the front can't move, would it transfer excess engine movement to the rear where the axles go into the diff?
If so I am thinking about taking this front mount loose. But how much will the engine move? Will I risk blowing the radiator just taking it for a drive?

I know the rear mount will limit twist, but it is rubber or poly and on the back of the engine.
This solid steel mount is right on the front. So without it the front would be able to move the most of any part of the engine.
I am thinking it will be okay if I just drive a bit to see if it still shudders without it. Just wondering if anyone else had seen this done before, and if it would be likely to cause any issues.

The front mount is not 'necessary' but the rear mount is.
Plenty of people only run 3 mounts, especially aftermarket mounts.
Are your mounts worn at all? How much does the engine vibrate at idle?

I don't think they are worn at all. They looked new when I had the rear and side tranny mount out. The swap only has 5 or 6000 miles on it.
Its perfectly smooth at idle and everywhere else when driving, except part throttle at about 25 to 45mph or when I punch the gas quick, everything starts to vibrate. So I am thinking that the solid front mount to the traction bar is either resonating engine vibration into the suspension, or is causing the rear of the engine to shift more than it should and vibrate which is translating through the axles and into the front wheels.
Does either of these theories sound plausible? Or is running a solid front mount a common practice that doesn't cause any issues.
