wiseco piston hitting Oil squirter Jets

Anyone here have a problem with there wiseco pistons hitting the oil jets on a b18c1. I thought that I had piston slap at first but when I pulled out the oil pan I found the nozzle of the #4 oil jet in the oil pick up. It seems that the wrist pin support rib was pushing the nozzle down then the crankshaft journal pushed it back up. I was just wondering if anyone had to grind down their pistons for this also?

Thanks!

i have the same problem.. the squirter broke right off twice and was in the oil pick up... i guess its not an isolated incident.. btw, i'm runnin a gsr w/ 84 mm weisco's as well... also, #4 piston is the closest to the timing belt, correct?? cuz that's the one that's having the problem...

help would be appreciated...

Piston #1 is closest to the timing belt. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Mine was also the #4 piston farthest away from timming belt. So I ground down part of the pistons. All the squirters were hitting the pistons.

Did any of you check for clearance between you oil jets and crank/pistons? Also, were these instances of jets hitting with GSR cranks or LS cranks?

Re: wiseco piston hitting Oil squirter Jets (H22coupe)

I had a machine shop but my B18C1 block together, im using 81.5mm Wisecos from IB, reason they hit the oil squirters is because of the slip skirt design on the piston, the maching shop billed me for an extra hour of labor because they set up the oil squirters so they could properly function without being harmed, so your not the first to have this problem.

another reason i plugged em.

i put a block tock together for a friend using wiseco pistons about a year ago and had the same problem but i also check too see if the crank spins freely before puting everthing else together and noticed they were hitting so i just plugged them the same as the pic

Re: (93lsd)

Yes, you either have to modify the oil tube or remove it. Whoever did the piston design TX. or Ca. missed it.

yeah i had to plug mine too. i stuffed a ls crank in my gsr and 3 out of the 4 were hitting either the crank or piston. it too was bored to 84mm.

Hmmm. I wonder if thats the noise in my engine?
I also have wisecos in my gsr block. Its bored to 84.5 and im using an LS crank.
When I assembled it,I noticed they were close, but I just moved them a little bit.

I wonder if they moved or something....I get this light tapping noise under light load only.weird

detonation/ping?

Re: wiseco piston hitting Oil squirter Jets (Sp00n'd Supra)

No not detonation,I used to get that at WOT in 4th and 5th gear until I retarded My timing almost all the way...(still saving for EMS)
It sounds more mechanical...I used to think it was just piston slap but now Im starting to wonder...
Not valve contact either.Engine was clayed for clearances...
Oops,sorry for thread jacking https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif

piston slap makes ur motor sound like a diesel

Re: wiseco piston hitting Oil squirter Jets (PyroProblem)

well looks like somebody better drop the oil pan too be on the safe side, but if you have a oil guage you can see if on is broken because there will be a loss of oil pressure at wot

I know this topic is old but I have this same problem. Luckily I checked for clearance. For those who buy wiseco pistons BE AWARE of the oil jets hiting the bottom of the pistons!!!!! I have stock bore!

wiseco includes a warning sheet that specifically addresses that exact issue.......you guys should read all the paperwork that comes with the piston kit...... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

For those of you that had the Squirters come out in the pan, What did you do after you found they were broken off?

Damn, I knew I saw that sheet somewhere. I search all over for it but couldnt find it again and thought I was imagining things! I decided to check clearance anyways just incase I wasn't hallucinating. What exactly does the warning say again? Anyone happen to have it laying around? Thanks!

it says that the piston skirt will contact the oil squirter's. you need to re-adjust them and allow a minimum of .030 clearance between the skirt and the oil squirter.

you can bend the squirters out of the way
