Wierd Overheating problem....
The motor is a D16y7. I did all the basic maintenance procedures about 1 month ago. Changed upper and lower rad hoses, changed all the misc. heater hoses, all brand new worm gear type clamps, replaced thermostat, replaced rad cap, and flushed the cooling system twice that month.
The water pump was replaced at 84K miles when I bought it. Right now it has 112K miles. Problem is that when I have the AC on for a while the water temp starts to go up. The highest it went up was about 7/8 ths, not tapping the red section. So I always put the heater on open when ever this happens and it drop back to about 2/7 ths. Then the needle starts to creep up when I'm at idle for about 15 mins. So I would shut the car off for about another 30 mins to let it cool off. What gives man? Insites, solutions, and tips are welcome. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif |

Does your cooling fan ever come on? If not chech the fan switch. I believe its on the thermostat housing on that motor. If the fan is coming on then check to see if your thermostat is stuck. Some times they will stick in a partially open position = slow warmup then over heat at idle.

All rite. Sensor was defective. No continuity at all. Replaced it with a new one, spliced a switch and wire to manually turn it on, call it a day.
Does it work? Yup. |
