Re: (LSVT3K 91 C1V1C)

how would I go about that

Re: (95integrags-r)
Catalytic converters were different between those years. You probably have a mixture of different year A-pipe, converter, & B-pipe.

What's a 'throttle body warmer'?? Maybe he doesn't know what the FITV really is? Your FITV might be loose inside, or your IACV might be dirty or sticking. Vacuum leaks are also a common problem for surging idle. Your base idle should be adjusted like this: 1 Get the engine warmed up completely, turn off all accessory loads & electrical stuff. 2 Unplug the electrical connector to the IACV. The idle speed will drop lower. 3 Adjust the screw above the throttle bore, to get 450 or 500 rpm. 4 Turn off the engine, plug the IACV back in, disconnect the battery or pull a fuse to reset the ECU. 5 Start the engine without touching the gas pedal, let it idle for 15 minutes or so, without touching the gas pedal. That's for a '95 GSR without a turbo. I don't know how the turbo would mess with this procedure. |
Re: (JimBlake)
thanks... I told him he didnt knoow what he was talking about. but Im figuring its the valve underneath the throttle is the problem (FITV), how can i go about fixing that??

Re: (95integrags-r)
I think there's a pretty good post here somewhere, with pictures & all. I haven't had to do this myself.
To take it off, you'll have to disconnect the coolant hoses, etc. On one end of the FITV, there's a cover you can take off. Look for something loose, screw it back in tight. Make sure where it bolts to the throttlebody, that isn't a vacuum leak. |
