v-tec or no v-tec??

i ahve a 94 ls with alot of miles on it. i want to either rebuild the engine so its fast or go vtec. im goin all motor. i have about 3 grand to spend... totall thats it not a penny more. i know i could rebuild the b18b to be faster than a gsr but i kinda want vtec. how much could i get a gsr with decent miles for. i can have it installed for about 1k by a friend. were can i find a cheap gsr with decent miles??? what do u guys recomend?? b18b (worked) or b18c (stock)?????????

If you are going all motor it would be a good choice to go VTEC.

on the contrary, if you're goin all motor, NO-VTEC! In all motor you want everything to be as light, and spin as fast as possible. Vtec adds weight, and only simulates a big cam. Go Non-VTEC and slap a big ass cam on there.

vtec doesn't simulate a big cam, it IS a big cam. with vtec you can keep a stock idle and still have a grip of top end power, so i say vtec. keep in mind that either way is a good route, you just have to build it right.

ive been doing some reading, and some points about non vtec all motor made sense...if you are going to be in vtec all the time when on the strip...why not just run a monster cam and get rid of the dead weight?

ya, vtec killer cams with a constant big lobe would be good if he was doing nothing but racing, but for daily driving i probably wouldn't want it. but yea...makes perfect sense if he was only racing. then again he'd still need a vtec head for those cams wouldn't he?? i wouldnt know since ive never looked into that.
