Type R is over heating need help ASAP!!
my car is over heating. i replaced the thermo, coolent, radiator cap, set the timing back to stock. im clue less now. it happened after i put in my cam gears.
it over only over heats after i race someone. the coolent level in the resivor tank gets past the max but when the car cools down the resivor tank is still full. the coolent system isnt leaking anywhere.the lines to the resivor tank arnt clogged so now im in desprate need of some advice.

you need a resevoir/funnel based bleeder for the newer hondas since they no longer have bleeder screws on the thermo housing. btw, is this a new R? if so just take it to the damn dealership.

Have your radiator cap pressure tested also. When your coolant gets hot enough the cap bleeds off pressure to a certain point. When this happens the hot expanded fluid goes into the resevoir. When your radiator cools then there is a low pressure area now "vacuum" and this draws the fluid from the resvoir back into the radiator. The resevoir is there to always keep the radiator full to the top. On old cars that didn't have this resevoir some fluid would just spill on the ground when it got pressurised and when it got cooler it had no fluid to pull back in. So then the radiator would always not be full all the way. The radiator cap is always overlooked in the cooling system. For every 1psi increase it raises the boiling point by 3 degrees F. A 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water will have a boiling point of say around 226 degrees F. Say you have a 13psi cap. This will make your final boiling point at 275 degrees F. Makes sure your fan turns on also. Air in the system could also be the culprit. Hope this helps. Peace.

Check if there's air in the cooling system or the head gasket may be gone. I think you better do a leak down test.
