Tranny Noise....TB or input shaft bearing?????
Ok I have a 00 si. I replaced my clutch about 7k miles ago and ever since so at idle I hear this noise. I only hear this at idle, and if the engine speed changes(a/c kicks in, or i give it gas) then it goes away. I am thinking the throw out bearing is barley touching the pressure plate and is cause that noise. But I have also heard that the input shaft bearing has similar symtomes. The noise started happening after the new clutch went in, and everything was replaced including a new throwout bearing. Also I do not hear any noises while I am driving. The only odd noise is at idle with the clutch engaged....and if the engine speed changes it goes away and then comes back when the speed decreases. Any help will be great...

Yeah thats when it happens....but its not constant...it goes away a bit when the engine speed changes. Could this be the early stages of a bad ISB?

That cant be good. What causes this to go bad? I have noticed this since I installed the new clutch...I have also read that the same thing has happened to other people while installing a new clutch???

Re: (ultimatehonda)
Popping the clutch wears it out, or in the case of a new clutch, harsh engagement. Most people upgrade to a clutch that is extremely strong and stiff, so a lot more pressure is put on the ISB during engagement. Most of the time a 100,000 mile bearing can't hold up against a clutch with 150% holding capacity over stock. This is why I don't like ACT

I want to change all the bearings in the tranny. Would you know how many they are in there. I want to go OEM so do you know how much they go for?
