Toda B = less power ?

I have a lsvtec with 12.4 compression and was making 175 whp and 130 lbs with 58mm TB . After installing Toda B the power went down to 170 whp and 118 lbs and doesnt seem to pull much above 7500 . I have tried advancing and retarding cams and no improvement only varied up or down 1 whp . The other weird thing is the Todas made more power leaning the fuel from 6500 on . I know the TB is a restriction but I dont think that much and the dyno showed the Todas making less power across the whole plot . Oh and the motor has good compression showed 260 in 1-4 and 255 2-3 with a 2% leakdown . Open to suggestions .

what are you using to tune your car with besides cam gears?

Re: Toda B = less power ? (StinkyTofu)

Vafc with fuel set at 48 psi . Had a 12.9 ratio with Vafc at all 0 then took -7 out and power went up from 163 to 170 . But my problem is why would these cams take less fuel over stock B16 cams .

sounds like there may be something going on. I have a b16 with 10.0:1 compression using Toda b-specs and the motor is making 184whp and 120wtq.

what cam gears are you using?what cams are you comparing the to?

I know something is up but what is the question of the day . I am comparing them to stock B16 cams I had before untuned , just pulled two dyno pulls with them . The motor is in good sealing condition so why does it need less fuel with bigger cams and why didnt adjusting cams make any real difference plus or minus . I am going to try a different ecu and see but this is the same ecu I ran with the stock cams . I feel this thing should be putting at least in the 190 whp area even with the small TB , torque is what worries me it never gained but about 5 lbs at vtec all the way to 9K . I also am using stock D16Z6 injectors but unless they are staying open all the time I dont see how they would make the car run richer over the stock cams .

There's your problem, imo.

Try a hondata with about 2 good hours on the dyno https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I dont think the vafc is the problem , I have seen and know other cars with these cams a vafc put down good numbers . Nobody in my area tunes honda data either I have gives it serious consideration if I could get a good tuner .

small injectors for sucha high compression, upgrade intake manifold if u already havent, ITR or SKunk2, also did u change the valvetrain along with the cams, toda B's should be reving higher then stock b16 cams

get a new tuner and the rest of the parts you need to make the cams work properly.

Re: Toda B = less power ? (igotyofire)

I have a ITR manifold and upgraded springs , I do agree that bigger injectors are required but the motor makes more power taking fuel out , it ran 12.9 on the dyno and when I added it lost power so this is confusing to me unless my ignition cant hang on the high end . I am also running stock B16 distrbuter but I do have a aftermarket ign . but I had a ITR motor with skunk stage II making 190 whp with stock ign .

Re: Toda B = less power ? (Highrevs99)

stock ign is fine , your problems lie elsewhere.

post the graph so we can see what its actually doing.

How can I post the graph ? I dont have a image host . Is there another way please let me know and I will post it .

Any chance it is not switching over to the hi-cam lobes? Where do you have VTEC set?

what he said ...

if you have to lean out the top end that means its stuck on the low cam and not switching to high cam. test it on the dyno by giving the vtec solenoid +12v at 5krpm
