timing belt problem.
 

this is for a d15. i have a problem with my timing. I put everything at TDC and car runs like shit. It doesnt even rev up fast enough and lags real hard. when i used the timing light to check timing its TDC when the dist. is all the way in retard. When i adjusted the stock cam gear one tooth advance it runs better but still lags here and there but revs up like normal. When everything is at TDC the car can hardly even climb a hill and when i take off it lags so hard and when i step on it more i just here it backfire. Pleae help, need to get car smogged soon.

you are probabally a tooth off on the cam gear. it is kind of hard to line up the timing marks on a sohc. just move the belt a tooth in either direction, reste the ignition timing and go test drive it. BTW the same thing happened to me.

yep. get rid of as much slack as you can between the cam and crank otherwise it may be off a tooth. after you tighten the tensioner, give it a full turn and see how the marks line up. silly honda should make tining marks on the belt or tell us how many belt teeth there should be inbetween.
