Timing

Do i set the timing gun to "0" for setting base timing? What about advancing, what do i set the gun to?

you set the gun to what your factory timing is (i.e. 15). just find the point where the mark stays stationary with the pointer. then advance from there. so if you wanna advance 2 degrees, take the gun up to 17 until the mark stays stationary.

set the gun to what the factory timing should be? or what the timing is at now? i don't know what my timing is at now, its retarded, but i don't know by how many degrees, i just want to put back to stock or advance it a little.

yeah set the gun at what timing is at now. you'll have to find out what it is, like i said.

i don't understand, none of the three marks on the crank pulley is lining up with the pointer on the block... How would i set my timing back to stock (b18c-16 degrees) with the adjustable timing gun?

Re: Timing (dubnine)

You set the gun at what the timing SHOULD be. Loosten the three bolts that hold the distributor. Leave the top one tight enough to hold things in place, but loose enough to allow forced movement. Short the service connector, shoot the crank pulley & lightly tap the the top of the dizzy toward the firewall until the 0° timing mark on the pulley lines up with the timing mark on the belt cover. The other three marks on the crank pulley are for reference when using a timing light that is NOT adjustable.
