An oem oil pump on a b16 at 10,000-10,500 RPM is being stressed less than say a gsr at the same rpm right? I figure the b16 is a shorter stroke motor and has less vibrations. drastically reducing the chance of failure compared to the 1.8's

As far as I know, harmonic resonance is what destroys oil pump gears. so wouldnt a properly dampned b16 be able to see those rpms frequently without failure?

Stresses in a rotating part rise exponentially with rpms. It has a limit whether it vibrates or not, although I have no idea what that limit is.

Theroetically speaking.. If we went by the books then 8300rpm should break oil pumps cause thats the limit honda put on there motor, screw that shit go by what people have allready done not by what a book or some mathimatics. when it doubt REv It OUT

yeah, umm, good point *rolls eyes* BUILT BEING THE KEY WORD. his question is will a built B16 that is capable of revving to 10k not tear up the oil pump.

the question was answered already via AIM, but more insight wont hurt.
