Tachometer conversion

I have a J30A4 in my 2000 EK sedan. I'm curious as to whether I can use a potentiometer (pot) to adjust the reading like they do on Toyota 4 to 6cyl swaps. Autometer tech support said that the Civic tach is a 2 pulse and that the V6 ecu from the Accord is 3 pulse.
