screwed over by stock cat...
i just dropped in a 97 b18c spec-r on saturday..
i have been driving with just open header since today.. i went to this muffler shop and asked them to do my piping but they said i needed a cat.. i was in a rush so picked up my stock cat.. they installed the cat and 2.25" piping.. i drove the car off and i noticed it became significantly slower but much quieter.. how can i fix this? should i just do no cat at all? or what about a hi-flo catco cat? thanks in advance. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |

Running any exhaust system will feel slow when compared to running an open header. But a high flow cat will help. For the B18C-R motor you will probably want to think about upgrading to a 2.5" cat and exhaust anyway.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif *but* I dont think this is the case..I felt the same with my cat Installed I want the power of no cat but when i put a test pipe on it sounds like shit and has its power back so i took the loss and kept my car but in your case its your cat so get a test pipe depending on where you are located. |

I wouldn't recommend a test pipe as a good high flow cat won't cost you hardly any power anyway. I still think your best bet is a 2.5" cat and exhaust.
