Rebuilt engine

How would you suggest to break in a newly rebuilt engine??

Re: Rebuilt engine (midnytedesigns)

i guess you would break it in like you would break in a new car, by driving under 3000 rpm for 1000 miles.

Exactly how I do it... Go for 1000 miles never taking it over 3000 rpm varying the engine rpm and throttle (never going over say ~50-75% throttle)... Do an oil change at 100, 500, and at 1000 miles... If you've built a high compression motor then keep the timing backed down... As the rings begin to seat you may begin to detonate more, keeping the timing back helps out till you get it tuned... Hope this helps... Peace

well there's a discussion in the FI forum on how if you break it in too lightly the rings will never seat properly. then you have a mess on your hands.
