Quick question about compression!
Okay so bad valves has caused some horrible compression #s. So low that one cylinder isn't even firing. I must admit my car still hauls ass for a 3 cylinder. ANYWAY I came across some oem b16a2 valves. Now my question is, should I be getting the valve springs and retainers? Is there any chance mine would be bad from my valves? I mean it's not that much of a deal since it's all fairly cheap and I can go check them out.. input please? I'm just jobless and poor so I'd like to save every penny possible. But if it's "safer" or recomended to replace the whole valvetrain I will.. thanks!

What testing have you done to make sure its your valves.
if it is why did the valves go bad? what engine are we talking about ? |
Yes, how did you figure it was the valves?
If it's FOR SURE the valves, then no, you just replace the valves. Unless you're building this for some high revving and it's a high mileage head, there should be no prob w/ the springs and retainers. |

Re: (smokey2.0)
I would check the valve adjustment first then follow it up with a leakdown to determine which valve it is.

at ~30 bucks a set, I'm willing to replace all of them.. And I just got a valve adjustment no more than a month ago. Anything else I should do to "ensure" that it's my valves? |
Re: (.jefs0ng)
30 bucks for a set of valves or valve seals that seems low for a set of valves.

43 for brand new valve seals + 25 for intake valves [not new].. so it's 78 bucks... still considering if I should replace the exhaust ones.. should.. I? |
Re: (.jefs0ng)
If there still fine I wouldn't even if I wasn't on a budget i'd just change the seals and your valve springs will be fine. Good luck. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/embeer.gif
