pegged heat gauge?
I just finished putting my trans back on, I go to start the car and the heat gauge goes all the way hot and stays there. Otherwise the car is fine. I did not have this issue before, also the cooling fan does not come on so I am thinking it has something to do with something inside the car. Any ideas? During the downtime I also had the center part of the dash out to put in the ciggarette lighter, everything worked fine at that point after I put it back together. Also my radio doesn't work not either. 88 CRX with B16a.

Anyone? I am pretty sure it is not the sensor, since I have no CEL and VTEC will not work until the car is warm, despite the gauge reading. Also the cooling fan does not kick in. I really want to figure this out, I dont like not having a coolant temp gauge. Radio was unrelated, I checked all fuses as well.

ummm, you fucked up something electrical.
get out the trust voltmeter and start tracing wires!!! there are wiring diagrams all over this board. worse comes to worse, go buy a chiltons. |
Plug your fan back into the harness.

Re: (91SiZ6)
I'm pretty sure it's plugged in, but could that cause it?
|
It worked perfect before I dropped the tranny.

Re: (ED9man)
does it go all the way to hot even before u start the car w/ the key in the on position. if so when u where pulling the tranny out u damaged the thermo sensor on the side of the head under the distributer it looks like a headphone jack plug

I was going too quickly and forgot to plug my radiator fan back in. Exactly same symptoms. Could be a loose ground, too.

Helms is definitely the way to go if you can afford it. But having a Chiltons and/or Haynes is far better than nothing.

I have a Helms. I am sure it is not the thermo sensor. My only question now is, does the wire for the gauge run straight from the thermo sensor or does it go through the ECU first?

Re: (ED9man)
what does the wiring diagramd say
|
Which sensor on the back of the block is the coolant temp? I checked the connections on both of them. There's one with 2 wires and one with one wire. Thanks.
