P28 ecu Knock sensor?

Can anyone verify that the P28 ecu does not utilize a knock sensor when chipped for DOHC?

most of the ppl on this board runs the p28 ecu because it doesn't require a knock sensor but if u want proof then i'm sure there will be someone to explain this to you.......

i can't explain why, but my friend does not have a knock sensor when he runs a chipped ecu for dohc

Agreed, there is no knock sensor board in the p28

Re: (civic-4-ges)

you cant run a knock sensor with the p28 even when chipped cause the ecu does not know there is a knock sensor.....if it had the board the ECU would know what a knock sensor is then it would look for it. if you want to chip an ecu and run a knock sensor chip a obd1 GSR ecu.

You need to run a P72 for a knock sensor.

pretty sure a knock can be added to a p28 board

it can you have to add the knock sensor board....but why not just buy a p72 that already has one? Also i dont like modifing ecu's.....only chipping them...i hate adding vtec to a non vtec one n crap like that

you can use more than just the p72 ecu if you want a knock sensor.
But seriously, the stock knock sensor sucks; and its really not worth adding/ worrying about it.
Its really not hard to add one though

The P30, PR3, and P61 also look for a knock sensor. If you are lloking for a pre-1992 ECU, the PR3 (pre-1992) and PW0 also look for a knock sensor.

Re: P28 ecu Knock sensor?

Im also trying to figure out how to connect a knock but I’m actually using my old harness from a 1992 eg si (doesn’t have knock ) and the motor is b16a (new to the mechanic game and didn’t know how to wire a right hand harness to my car.) so I’m trying to figure out what to do p30 computer by the way
