Mind explaining OCI's and UOA's?

I don't mind rebuilding the Auto tranny. Also...I may just convert to manual when the auto tranny goes...I will have everything necessary to convert to 5 speed in a few months.

OCI = Oil change interval

UOA = Used Oil Analysis... sending a sample of oil off to a lab, they run tests and tell you whats going on inside of your engine. Not very expensive.

At the rate my engine is burning oil, there is no way I'm going to put oil that expensive in it. Maybe after the rebuild and I'm no longer burning oil...but at that rate I'd be flat broke in no time.

For now I'll stick to my Advanced Auto 10W-40.

Wha?? You mean somebody actually runs an entire message board, dedicated entirely to motor oil and misc automotive fluids? And doing quite well at that!! I think I've seen it all!!!

Where does somebody send their oil for such a test? And can they really tell you much about "whats going on" or do you just mean chemically speaking?

hahaha, this is a funny post, first of all, to the person who is only gonna change their "amsoil" for 8-10 months in their racing engine, you are the biggest idiot EVER. you don't even deserve to own a "race engine" whatever it is. Your motor will not last long at all, i can tell you that. amsoil is not some secret synthetic that has to be changed every 23k or whatever, ive done lots of research and have heard full two hour presentations on several oils, what do i use in my car? mobile 1, and i change it every 3k. If you think a synthetic will last that long you have no clue what your doing..

#2, you car will not last a million miles, maybe under awesome conditions, like you are insane with your maintenance and 90 percent of it is highway use. I personally owned a benz diesel. My very own car had 800,000 thousand miles on it, the head bolts have never been removed. My parents bought the car new in 1980, it was a 240d. Those motors are nothing like civic motors. get this... origonal CLUTCH! Diesels are built completely differently and you should never compare you civic to the reliability of a german diesel. BTW, your auto tranny will definatly, definatly not make it. you'd have a much better chance making it with a stick. less stress on the motor. Anybody can make their car last a million miles with replacing parts.

I know my car is not built like a diesel. I plan on swapping in a manual tranny soon. I'm not doing this to prove anything to anyone. I do plan on replacing parts when they need it. Even though it won't make it that far without the head bolts being removed, how many people do you know that can say they drove their Honda one million miles?

I know of a Guy here in Patchogue, Long Island, New York Who has a Million Mile 1967 Volvo 1800s Two seat sports car . He is the original owner , drives it everyday ,and the car looks inside and out like museum quality . The owner is a shop Teacher, and when i asked him about rust, he said RUST is a FOUR LETTER WORD , and it never sleeps . GOOD LUCK

If we do it that way, I WIN! But I swapped engines about 5 k miles ago so I guess I am out.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Mine is a November 96 w/ 257k miles on it..... (8 years old)

New clutch a couple thousand miles ago. No leaks or anything, all stock. It wont keep the 32125 miles a year up, but if it did it would make a million miles in 23 years, which I don't plan on doing!

Yes...the person who had my car before me only averaged about 15K per year. Last year I put right under 50K on my previous car. I think throwing on the miles will be no problem for this thing.

As of this morning I'm at 211,3XX miles.

Sheesh a million miles. Where will you go? A man can only make so many trips to a strip club before the women there take all his money.

Haha! Awesome thread (subscribe )
Anyways, goodluck in your endevors and don't let meanies sway your goals!

One thing though... why havent 'Toyotas' come up in this thread? There's already been a few Toyotas (pickup trucks) that have made it in to the million mile club. I think Toyota runs a campaign of such, where you get a new Toyota when you reach the million mile mark (also tv time on a commercial)

Having worked at a Toyota dealership I've seen many 200,000~300,000mile cars, and one topping around 600,000miles.

In anycase, lets all see you reach this goal and all of the H-T alumnis can rejoice in your accomplishment.

(I don't want to think about how old we'll all be... so you better make it quick! )

ps. need a co-driver ?

There was a Add in the Local Honda Dealership up here in Nova Scotia,Canada

Some women somewhere in Canada had a 1987 Accord with 470000 Miles on it and still going. The jist of the ad was that she always had it Dealer Serviced.

Pffft...dude, do you realize how many trashy strip clubs there are in the South?

Really though...I commute at least 50 miles a day due to school and work. I usually commute another 50 to see my woman. I'm also a road trip junkie. All the freaking time I'm taking it up to North GA or TN, down to South GA or FL and just all over the place.

I'm actually getting ready to head out right now for TN for the evening, then coming back home tonight for bed. I'm going up for dinner and to hopefully see some Aurora Borealis [the weather man said it could be seen as far south tonight as the GA/TN border].

hondas, pssshhh. my chevy celebrity has 247,xxx miles on it. never had timing chain replaced, ive been racing it since 128,xxx and its still running strong. tranny is about to go though from me racing it. of course it always had service done on time.

on a side note my 91 civic has 199,600 miles on it. getting ready with the camera for the big 200k miles. but of course the previous owner didnt ever change the timing belt and it went at 194,xxx miles. so i got a d15b7 in there now, still dpfi

i heard through someone that the million mile accord guy got ahold of honda and they planned it so the millionth mile rolled over right in front of the marrysville ohio plant and right there they took his keys and handed him the keys to a brand new accord and put his in the honda museum (also heard that all he ever did to it was regular maintanance)
