Default oil pickup filter i have 2 different ones

and not sure which one Is from what engine or year...
i would prefer to use the one with finer mesh but its bad.

and in my opinion it would work better. but maybe it restricts more flow i don't know.

anyone know more about it

are these from different year or different motor like one is from gsr and another one is from type-r or b16?

i had whole bunch of gsrs and itrs and bs16 in the garage and have no idea what motor they came from anymore

If they are the same depth it should mean they interchange. Personally i would be happy using the one that was not smashed when the oil pan hit it.

The only difference will be the legs. B series blocks with girdles have shorter legs, and b series blocks without girdles have longer legs (it's not as simple as LS vs Vtec since some Vtec engines didn't have girdles.

Besides that, no difference. Use the one that isn't smashed if the legs are correct. Otherwise, try to find a new one.

why wouldn't there be any benefit of running the finer mesh if I had a choice?

if it means better filtering I can find one if I need to

I'm mainly asking if anyone knows what years they came from.

both of these are from b18c I have parts for jdm and usdm ITR and GSR
I had about 6 blocks here while building and had bad luck with cracked walls so I have these fn parts leftover and don't remember what parts came from what engine.

They keep large particles from being sucked into the pump. Honestly, if you are worried about large particles not being caught by the coarser mesh, your engine has bigger issues. The strainer i think is really just added safety incase a stray screw gets dropped in the pan.
