O2 sensor help

i am fearing that my O2 sensor isn't working correctly anymore or that its broken. I have been repeatedly getting check engine lights and a "code 1" from the ecu.. I also have noticed a difference in fuel consumption of 80+ miles per tank.

Is there a way to test the sensor itself? Or do i have no choice but to replace??

TIA

anyone??????

From what i have read there is a way to test for voltage flux. Anything between .2 and .8 rapidly changeing indicates a functional sensor. However anything different, or not changing at all indicates failure.

Anyone heard this before???

Well, the rate of oscillation is also important. I had about 100k miles on my stock O2 before it started heading south. I had the same symptoms as you....gas mileage decrease...unpredictable 'power'. Using an O'scope, I took a look at the O2 and saw that it was slow in response along with being slow to rich/lean tests.

Replaced it....everything was back to normal.

you can test it with your multimeter by checking the resistance between two of the terminals on the 4 plug connector of the O2 sensor. i don't remember what that resistance should be or what 2 terminals you should do it across but it says in the Helms.
