Noise in engine? LS-Vtec
i have an ls-vtec set up on my 98 integra. making noise while in idle, sounds like something is loose somewhere. its really loud. almost like metal on metal hitting. once i rev it past 1k the noise stops. installed stage 2 clutch, new axles, honda tranny fluid, 70mm throttle body, s2 manifold, 440 injectors. was tuned a month ago and was working fine.... i DO rev high from time to time, around 8800, but still under redline which is at 9200. gsr head w/ obd1 ecu. the head has aftermarket internals. anyone have this happen to them? my friends are coming over tomorrow to do a compression test...
oh yea.. and when i "launch control" at 3200 the car moves forward a little... never did that before. i know its not suppose to, but i dunno wth is going on. maybe clutch bad? suppose to break it in at 500miles, but i drive crazy. maybe a rod bearing problem? i also took off the valve cover to look for loose springs, but they looked good. i dunno.. help.. |

What kinda cams are in the head?If there ITR cams or Aftermartket cams you could need to order the new LMA's that honda has come out with for the b-series.I know i had to.GL

Re: Noise in engine? LS-Vtec
i found the problem... the flywheel was loose...
the (8) 17mm star bolt that holds the flywheel in place came loose. only 5 were good, the threads on the rest of them was stripped. last week - tried bolting it back on, ran great with no noise, but now i got the same problem. anyone know where i can find those bolts? i tried searching on that automotiveparts online store, but i got no results.. and could i tap the hole? tried taking a good bolt and placing it in a hole where a stripped one came off and it didn't wanna go in. |

on that link it says 12mm? maybe i was wrong about the size 17mm... could that be it? |
Re: (DC2_Legend)
It's a 17mm wrench, not bolt size.

oh yea....
