No Spark...

Ick.... I've been having trouble with my dissy... I replaced the rotor, dis cover, plugs, and plug wires and it ran fine... then i proceeded to replace my brake master cyl that had been leaking, turned it on and off a few times in the process of bleeding the breaks. Finished, decided to go home when it cranked and died... now it'll turn but there is no spark to the plug wires. Replaced the coil with one from a dissy that a friend had laying around... still wont spark... I'm thinking my prob is the igniter, thats my last resort and i'm gunna have to buy a new one tomorrow and install it. Hopefully that'll get her working again but i'm out of ideas... except to just replace the whole thing which is bleh.

Anybody else got any suggestions if that isn't it??

Oh yeah and its nothing to do with the fuel pump its working fine... theres just no spark being transfered

where is your head ground? what motor and year ?

you dont give a year or model but i can give you some general information. the ignitor will drive coil negative, the PCM will drive the ignitor and the pickups in the distributor will give the computer the reference signals it needs to command the ignitor. first thing to do is check for drive at coil negative and power at coil positive. if youre missing power at positive trace back the circuit and find out why. if you have a pulsing ground (test light to positive) at coil negative but no spark out of the coil. replace the coil. if you have no pulsing ground, check for a signal to the ignitor from the PCM. the PCM should send a digital signal to the ignitor which you can see either with a DMM on DCV or a logic probe. i prefer using vantage but most people dont have that luxury. if you have a digital signal from the PCM to the ignitor, and you have power and ground to the ignitor but no coil drive replace the ignitor. if you are missing power or ground to the ignitor trace it and find out why. if you are missing the digital signal from the PCM, trace the inputs to the PCM. there are two AC signals generated in the distributor that the PCM needs to give the ignitor a signal. It needs TDC and CKP. use a DMM set to ACV and check KOEC, you should have atleast 500mV AC. if you dont have one or the other replace the distributor. if you have both signal presant at the PCM, and power and ground to the PCM but no signal out of the PCM to the ignitor replace the PCM. if you are missing power or ground to the PCM trace it out and find out why. it sounds very complicated but its not. you just need to know what should be there and what will cause something to not be there. coil drive is generated by the ignitor, which generates coil drive by a digital signal sent by the PCM, which is derived by 2 AC signals from the distributor. good luck.

Happend to me too and the problem was the igniter.

Well the car is a 92 si.

I replaced the ignition control module and the thing still isn't getting any spark... I would replace the whole dissy but thats expensive... I got a dx one sitting around but the plugs are diffrent (it has one snap on plug and mine is supposed to have 2).
Anyways can i use the coil from the dx in the si dis??

lol... BayArea13: thanks, I cant do it myself cause i dont have the resources so i think i'll have my honda mechanic check it for me... anyways i'm about at the end of my rope..

thanks for the help.. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif
