nitrous

Hey guys can someone tell me what are the differences between 50, 75, 100, 125 shots of nitrous, when do you use that quantity of shots of nitrous? The question is because i am getting built the engine of my accord at a machine shop, they are going to put bigger pistons and valves and all that. With that job done the mechanic toll me that i was going to get around 30 hp and it will be able to run it at high rpm's is that True? For 1700 bucks https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emlove.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emhammer.gif

uhhhhh................u piad someone 1700 and u dont even know what the hell they are doing to ur engine?

Re: nitrous (acc97lxAndy)

The shot stands for the amount of power it makes, 50 shot should yield around 50hp. On most stock engines, people seem okay with 50-75 shot. The stronger your engine is(mainly pistons and rods), the more shot it can take.

Re: nitrous (acc97lxAndy)

He told you that the engine will get 30hp? You are paying $1700 for this why?
Anyway. Typically it is the valvetrain that goes before the rods or pistons go when it comes to nitrous, ateast that is what went first in my car when I blew the engine up. Find out wth this guy is putting into your car and report back. Otherwise we really have no idea what kind of setup you are runnign therefore can only tell you that those number are hp. 125 shot of nitrous = 125 hp. Dry shots ( nitrous not mixted with any fuel shot directly into your intake) typically yield less than thier specified number but direct port shots ( those running a mixture of fuel and nitrous with the the foggers tapped into the intake manifold) typically run more closely what they say ie 125=125 approx.
hope I helped. Please educate yourself about what is being done to your car so you are stuck like Chuck someday when the guy who built the engine is no longer available.

i will check about the job that he is going to do. may be this monday because weekends are closed at the machine shop.

thanks also that really helped me.

Re: (acc97lxAndy)

im sorry to tell you but 1700 for that kind of job is a little bit too much
down here for something like that they will charge you about 300 to 500 but you would have to get the pistons, but anyways is the accord a 2.0 or 2.2?

92KillerBee Aug 30, 2003 04:37 AM

Re: (92KillerBee)

and what else is done to it?

acc97lxAndy Aug 31, 2003 01:02 AM

my accord is 2.2 97and all what i got is cai, apc strut bar, ngk plug wires, +4 spark plugs, k&n oil filter and that's it.

Also he puts everything the pistons and the rest, i just have to bring him the engine, when the mechanic takes the engine out, i plan to put the stage 3 cluth and the lightweight flywheel from cluthmaster.

acc97lxAndy Aug 31, 2003 01:19 AM

also what would be the best clutch stages the 3rd or the 2nd? and why?

Re: (acc97lxAndy)

as for "upgraded" sparkplugs you all do know you can only put so much spark into an engine...... i cant see why people would wast money "UPGRADING" spark plugs..... how stupid!

oh well your money cheers!

dude you really need to learn what you are talking about.

go look up what an iridium spark plug is, and what it does.

Re: (Kamin)

+4's are a waste of money.

yes they are the spark still jumps to the closest tip.

acc97lxAndy Aug 31, 2003 04:23 PM

I know aobut the iridium spark plugs, and i plan to put them as long as i get the money. I have read that they also gives you more hp like 1-3 and more spark. so i will try to get those later.

but what about the clutch,

without the added spark into the plug no more can exit so unless your runnin a high output ignition your wasting your money....
so do your homework before telling someone their wrong. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (acc97lxAndy)

My friend has the stage 3 and I have stage 4. Both of which have really soft pedal pressure (cable trannies). Mine hooks up a bit faster. Most people I've seen prefer stage 3. Long life, good grabs and pedal pressure feels like stock.

LOL
ok an upgraded spark plug is a waste of money right, please explain to me why cars get better gas mileage and dyno proven horsepower with stock ignition systems when using an iridium type plug.

yes those gay 2/4 tipped platinum ones are a waste of money but a REAL upgraded plug is not.

acc97lxAndy Aug 31, 2003 09:54 PM

i don't know can you please help, that would be so helpful to me.

and thanks

acc97lxAndy Sep 6, 2003 07:54 AM

he is doing a performace engine rebuilt. What he do to the engine is change the camshaft, valves, bigger pistons, rod bearings, and also polish the head, turn the crankshaft, and something else. But i will just go with 50 shots of nitrous, (venon)

92KillerBee Sep 6, 2003 08:55 AM

Re: (acc97lxAndy)

i would go with a stage 3,drag and street.

92KillerBee Sep 6, 2003 09:00 AM

Re: (acc97lxAndy)

spark plugs?
go with ngk best ones for hondas,
go to ngk.com and ask them which sparks plugs are good for the engine you got and tell them everything you got in it and what your doing to it.they will tell you the best ones for that.
NGK best ones!
