Its hard to tell from the pictures- when you run your fingernail through there, does it catch at all?

Yea, its hard to say with just pics. Like he said run your fingernail over any questionable spots, if you can feel a grove it needs machined. Here is a cheap way of checking, clean pistons real good, get a ball hone (deglazer), a drill, feeler guages and some 90 weight gear lube (my preference) or motor oil if you really want to be cheap. Attach the hone to the drill, generously lubricate the cylinder walls and prelube the ball hone. Run the hone in the cylinders up and down on a medium speed for 10 seconds or so, until the cylinders look like new and have good even crosshatch. If you can still see the old crosshatch try to copy the angle of crosshatching ( I think its around 45 degrees). Then clean the cylinder with some brake cleaner and soft rag. Lightly lube cylinder walls with motor oil, place the proper piston in the proper hole from which it came (without the rings). Then check the piston to wall clearance with a feeler guage. I am sure if you search for b16 piston to wall clearance specs you will find them.
