What most people dont know about LS-VTEC motors is the fact that completley internally stock LS-VTEC's are good to run with, but the 8000 rpm limits of VTEC heads are not good for the stock bottom end of a LS. I am not saying you cannot run 8k rpm with a stock LS-V, but you wont have a motor that lasts a long time. I have used and built several LS-VTEC engines and usually at least upgrade the rod bolts and bearings. This will allow a little bit more RPM to be run (at least safe to 8k) and also adds a little bit of reliability to the engine. The key to making good power and still being reliable is to not skimp on the little stuff. Sure you can use forged internals and super expensive parts inside the motor but that does not guarantee a reliable motor. I am not telling you how to build an engine here, but I am saying at least take the advise of someone who has built an engine. Stock is good and can be run, but dont expect max power or longevity. Drivers are also to blame for engine failure. The less its beat on, the better chances it will last.

yea thas what i was looking for .. for advice from sombody who is experienced with ls/vtec .. the thing is i already have an LS motor .. but before i completely rip it apart and start the rebuild i started thinkin about ls/vtec and i wasnt sure if it would be worth it .. meaning the extra money ill have to spend to get the new head .. ls/vtec conversion .. wiring harness ecu ect.. or should i jus spend my money building my LS ..

best bang for the money would be buiding the ls/v.
with the money you spend on the head/rod bolts/ getting your ecu chipped/ etc.
yuor still going to end up with more power than if you did put it into the ls.

Unless of course you save for forced induction

I did the LS/Vtec conversion myself in my garage. It was my fist time and it was easy as hell, everything worked the first time, except for the VTEC, but that turned out to be the ECU. My adivice if you do it youself: You NEED a Helms manual for an Integra, upgrade water and oil pumps to VTEC ones, get head studs/ timing belt...whatever else you can easily install while its all apart do it.
