Hey community, the valve cover is usually cast aluminum and has a good bit of weight. By using carbon fiber composites to build the valve cover there are two huge benefits. 1. drastic reduction of weight - by half at least. 2. lowers the CG which helps in all areas of performance. Another advantage is lot of people modify the factory valve cover to add or enlarge ports for crank case ventilation. This can be incorporated into the CF valve cover design. Another possibility is to create a lower profile valve cover to get additional hood clearance which could help installation in certain swap applications... Anyway, I'm debating if I should make B series or K series valve cover first so I'm asking for some feedback. If I had unlimited resources I would make both at the same time... but I probably have to pick one first. Unless, perhaps I go do a go-fund-me campaign .

Anyhow, normally I can weight them myself but I've been on the road for the past 6 weeks... I also thought this might be a good chance to compile all valve cover weight for various Honda engines. So if anyone happens to have a valve cover off, please chip in. I'll update the first post as people add info. Please post weight in imperial (lbs) or metric (kg) to 1 decimal place which is accurate enough.

Not being a dick , but why would this matter? Seems like a waste of time...........99.9% of people wont ever change their valve cover to save weight. It just seems like a moot point. Its like asking how much oil weighs, it doesn't matter and you have to use it.

You'd be better off making something not so specific, like CF seats. Make one seat instead of the 17 items on your list. And a seat can be made to fit any car, will not have to be made as precisely as a valve cover and will save more weight.

CF hood - weight savings yes.

CF valve cover - ehhhh no.
