knocking sound?
 
what the heck is that knocking sound coming from my engine everytime i accelerate?...especially going up hill...can someone please give an explanation on what that might be...thanks http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif

Most likely pinging....or detonation...check your timing...its probably way too advanced

Like allmotorgurl said, it sounds like it's pinging. Are you using "regular" fuel in an engine that's supposed to take "premium?"

yup...just using "regular" fuel....no engine mods or anything....just a daily driver car....btw i have a '92 integra ls....just had a major tune-up in feb....this knocking sound just started a couple weeks ago. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsad.gif

Try a tank of premium Chevron gas and/or their Techron concentrate. You might have a lot of carbon buildup on the piston tops which is causing pre-ignition and/or bumping up the compression. I think there is some top end cleaner you can get at the dealer for cleaning the piston tops too.

Chevron gas is the shit, I saw a noticeable decrease in carbon buildup after switching. The piston tops were actually cleaner than the last time I pulled the head.
