Knife edged crank?

What are the benefits and pitfalls of a knife edged crank? I have an N/A GSR setup, any help will be appreciated, thanks

advantage is that the crank will be lighter, which means you will have less parasitic losses. and disperses the oil mist in the crank case.

disadvatage is that it isn't nearly as reliable. the knife edging can very easily throw the crank out of balance, which would lead to a fairly spectatular engine destruction.

It can be ok, but if you ask me, not worth it unless you really need those few extra ponies.

I agree with martini on the pro's list. The crank can be balanced perfectly again, but it is costly and more time consuming. If you do have the kinfe edging done or anything else for that matter remember you get what you pay for. As for the cost to benefit, you have to be in a very closely competitive class for this to give you much of an advangtage, if money is no object than go for it.
