I heard you get a higher oil pressure with this, does anyone know for sure? Any reviews on this? Anyone experienced this?

I don't see how the oil filter would improve the oil pressure. If it was less restrictive then maybe better flow but I seriously doubt it would be anything worth trying. Then again everyone said K20 swap would never work so you never know....

Well guys, as a Honda parts employee I see these filters everday.

The "new" filters (Civic 01+, Accord 03+)
P/N: 15400-PLM-A01
H/C: 644623

The "old" filter (Civic Pre-01, Accord Pre-03)
P/N: 14535-P72-A00
H/C: 317955

The only difference in these are the sizes of the filter itself. The "old" filters are larger and hold more oil.

i use the rsx one, supposedly higher pressure...fine for me for the last 5 months

Do you have specifications? Particularly - does the bypass valve open up at a higher pressure in the new ones?

I do not know any of this off the top of my head, but I will look into it for you. I will see what I can find out.

Can a small oil filter be replaced by a large one?

For all Honda models, the answer is YES. The 65mm diameter oil filter is directly interchangable with the 80mm oil filter. Both filters use the same filteration media to do the job, and filter out AT LEAST 70% of the particles that are 30 MICRONS or larger and 85% of the particles that are 40 MICRONS or larger.

Spoon uses smaller oil filters on their race cars for the purpose of helping keep the oil pressure high(er). this was specifically stated in Best Motor volume 1(of the English version).

Now it is proven, RSX oil filter bumps up the oil pressure.
I don't think too much of oil pressure can hurt anyone

My one concern would be the possibility of the pressure-relief valve opening at high pressures and allowing unfiltered oil to circulate through the engine.

Really will not make a difference in anything. I would just stick with OEM filters for your motor even though H and B series filters are universal.

I'd just worry about the smaller filter not filtering oil as well. If nothing ELSE changes, and you get higher pressure from a oil filter, its MORE RESIRICTIVE. Now, tie that in with a higher volume pump, like maybe the RSX has, no big deal, but with a lower volume pump, you get less effective oil where you need it.

edit: After reading the post mike made, higher pressure means less filtering?

no the filter just filters differently..it only goes up 2-3 PSI...anyways
