Default How to tell what ICM/Ignitor to get

I'm having some ignition issues, and my troubleshooting this far has brought me to replacing my icm. But I'm having a lot of issues finding one or making sure it's the right one.

My engine has a 2000 Gsr head, and an obd2 dizzy. I dont know if it's a gsr dizzy though, or something else. I bought a cap and plugs for a gsr, but the cap was slightly too large and the bolts wouldn't thread because of it. Which makes me believe the dizzy has been changed at some point?

I've searched around and theres a lot of conflicting info. People say all dizzy internals are the same, but all the parts places have different ones listed for the ls vs the gsr.

No matter where I buy this part, it seems it's going to take a while to be shipped to me or a store, and be very expensive. So I'd like to know I'm buying the right one. Any guidance?

It's been a while since I run an igniter but I used to collect them from random hondas including SOHC and DOHC and they all worked without issues the sizes may vary but the connections are all the same.

has the differing size ever been an issue with having it physically fit inside the dizzy?

if parts are carried differently for different models is the only difference in function going to be quality/durability? I.e a gsr or itr part being made to withstand higher temps or stress?

I have those components. Check the FS marketplace.

Hmmm. Can't be much clearer than to say that I have both an OEM (Hitachi) ignitor and VTEC internal coil. But you can see that in the FS: marketplace. I cannot discuss prices or anything in the tech forums, but you can PM me or /and check out the items for yourself

FYI: FS stands for "For Sale". It's a section of the forums.
