How to make a v6 be a v6
 

I am not happy with my 1996 Accord V6 2.7. Any sugestions on what can be done to make me like my V6? Ignition? Induction? Exaust? Chip? HELP!!!!! It is very slugish and non responsive at low rpm's like all models of that year, but it is very nice at high rps's (4700-6300) in 3rd gear. A Level 10 torque converter is probably the best improvement you could ever make to an auto tranny.

But there's not much aftermarket out there for that engine. Good luck . . . .

The 2.7 is the previous generation Accord correct? I know Comptech makes headers for the 3.0 V6 that adds around 30hp. Get those headers, an intake, exhaust, and a 80 shot, and you'll be happier http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

Actually, those headers are supposed to be a blessing and a half for the 3.0-3.2 V6 engine...something like 30HP I hear. I know that for the 4-cyl Hondas headers add only a few HP, but from what I hear Comptech really did their homework with the V6 header set. Basically any forum that deals with the V6 CL/TL/Accord has members that swear by these headers. For $1100 they'd better add 30HP.

There's lots of dyno's over on the Comptech site. They give a solid 30 hp on the J32 Type S engines (CL/TL). The gains are still decent on the accord V6, but more what one would expect. I think around 10 to 15 peak, but it's been a while since I looked.

And from what I remember, all of those gains are at high rpm's, so they wouldn't improve your low-end much. I feel I should mention the Level 10 torque converter again. Let's you brake torque to a higher rpm for better launches, there's slightly less power lost through the transmission, and shifts are much crisper.
