How long are ctr rods?

supposedly its an b18c block w/ b16 crank right?

Yes, it is a B18C/P72 block with a 1.6L crank and longer rods. It is a 1.6L crank, but it's not exactly 1.6L crank out of a B16A engine; it's a special 'R' prepped 1.6L crank, which is made along the same procedure as the ITR crank, and is specifically designed for the P72 block+crank journals. This B16B crank has a less-width journal area, same as you'd find on a GSR or ITR crank; and its counterweight balanced. Regular B16 cranks have wider crank journal area's and are not counterweight balanced.

I don't have the exact length specs on them, but I do know for a fact that they're the longest b-series rod. I've compared them to B18C rods and they're a few cm's longer.

If I remember they're 144mm.

...I think you're right.

That sounds about right... I thought the R/S of a CTR was like 1.84 and with a 144mm rod it's about 1.87.... Oh well when i find out for sure i'll post back up... Peace http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emsmile.gif

Only the rod journals are wider. the mains are the same.

ahh yeah, ok..thanks.
I knew there was some differences between B18C/CTR and B16A crank journal widths somewhere.....thanks for the clarification.

Bumping the thread.

b16b rods use 142.42mm rods with

77.4mm crank.

142.42 / 77.4 = 1.84

Anyways, i have this query - if we use an 87.2mm crank from a b18c with b16b rods we would have a

1.63 stroke ratio - more stress upon the cylinder walls, BUT...

What im trying to achieve is a better stroke ratio for a b20 capacity - which from factory has a

1.53 stroke ratio (137.01mm rods and 89mm crank)

I am wanting to utilize...

B16B Civic Type R rods 142.42mm long

B18C Type R Crank 87.2mm Stroke

and a sleeved 84 or 85mm B16b or b18c series VTEC block.

My question is, with that setup^ are [aftermarket b20 84/85mm] pistons going to clear the valves? Probably not. Custom pistons with pins located higher in the piston I'm guessing?
