00 ITR cams in a jdm B16A, what ECU program to run???
I am planning on swapping in some 00 ITR cams into my 2nd gen jdm B16A. I have a j's racing copy intake, stock TB, AEBS IM, megan 4-1 header, catco hi-flow cat, greddy cat-back, stock valvetrain, and stock bottom end. I am currently using the stock jdm P30, should I look at getting it chipped with a ITR or CTR program? If so, where can I get this done? I do already have a skunk2 chip laying around that I have never used, it has a 4800 vtec and a 9000 redline. Should I just use this chip? I have heard that it runs a little rich, but I have an adj. FPR if I need to knock down the pressure. What has me worried about the skunk2 chip is the 4800 vtec engagement being too low. Thanks for any help.

Well since your exact setup doesnt match any of the chips made then you should get you car tuned properly and a chip created for YOUR setup..

and how exactly do i go about that? sorry, kinda new to tuning, never really needed it before. crome and uberdata just run off the stock ecu, right? aren't there files that you can just download for these and burn to a chip?

A tuner will make a uberdata map for your exact setup on the dyno.. And then burn it to a chip and put it into your ecu..

couldn't i just get a burnt uberdata chip from somebody that has a similar setup as me? aren't some of the maps saved for this reason? i know every motor is different and tuning my car would be best, but i am trying to do this the cheapest way possible.

Well sure you can get someone elses tune that is close to yours, you can do anything that you want.. But a tune that is close to yours still isnt exactly yours but you can do whatever you want..
There are basemaps out there so that the car can be started and that the tuner has a place to start.. They are not meant to be driven hard on..

bump for more options. any good mass produced chips that would work well with my setup? i.e. j's racing, spoon, mugen, etc.

thats what i was thinking, but i talked with a local tuner and he said that there weren't any good ones since the type r would be obd2 and nobody can get the switch to obd1 right. i dunno, do you know of where i can get a good type r map?

if you run the ''mugen'' program you will run rich as **** and will end up washing your cyl. walls...
just have your p30 map modified. you dont need that much of a change. just add some fuel in mid range and ''maybe'' ad some on high end.

and is this something that can be done by a local tuner, or do you know of a good place to send my ecu to?

For a lightly modded NA B16 why not just buy a used VAFC and dyno tune it?
Uberdata is like 60 to get chipped and for like a total of 200 you can get a whole chip burning soloution
Or get Hondata
Either way those options are so cheap I just dont see why you would want to skimp on tuning when to even make the cams worth the money you spent on them youll need to get tuned on a dyno
Why spend all the money on parts if your not going to tune them?
The lazy way out would be a cheap used VAFC and at least 1 hour on the dyno -- that should give you enough pulls to see where the lean spots are and where to add a little more fuel
Also if you have adj cam gears I would play with the VTEC activation point and the advance on the intake side --- maybe a little retard on the exhaust side
My C5 like +4 - 2 if I remember right VTEC was at 4800 with a DC JDM 4-1
It will be different on the 16 but the dyno will tell you for sure where it likes the timing and more/less fuel --- BTW I gained 20+whp in the mid range with a lower activation and cam timing with a larger header --- tuning makes a difference
