A good cam question.
I have a set of cams that I need to identify. Now I have looked through what I can find in the search results, and no avail.
Quick run-down: -There are no grooves on the dizzy side of the cam(either cam) like the "R" ones -All the letters in between the lobes never match to what I find in the search -The person I bought them from said that they were GSR cams from a 94 -The letters that are on them are "G" and "F"(nothing on the reverse side) I just want to make sure that they are indeed GSR cams before I go taking the time to switch them into my B16. I can get pics if that is going to help. What do the letters mean as far as identifying them goes? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. |
Re: A good cam question.
Just to make sure that it's up top for tomorrow.

Re: A good cam question.
Is there nobody that will help me out?

Re: A good cam question.
Although people can speculate on what they are, no one is going to be able to give you a definitive answer unfortunately. The only way to know what they are is to measure them but you are going to be hard pressed to find someone who has the knowledge or equipment to do that on this board. Lift is easy to measure, you just use a mic to measure the difference between the lobe height and the base circle. Measuring duration will require it to be chucked in a lathe or between centers and actually plot the lift curve.

Re: A good cam question.
So then, what are the specs on a GSR? So that when I find out what these cams' specs are, I can compare.

Re: A good cam question.
Anyone know the lift and duration of the GSR cam?

Re: A good cam question.
C'mon all you cam gurus; Lets have the answer!

Re: A good cam question.
Nearly 70 views and only one person has something to say? WTF?

Re: A good cam question.
i dont know the measurements, but i had a set of cams with no grooves...i think they were old b16 cams. my 95gsr's had grooves.

Re: A good cam question.
Sorry, I don't have time to search for you. You are going to be hard pressed to find the answer to your question on this board. There are no published specs available but some people may have recorded them. When talking duration remember you have to compared duration at the same starting lift, such as @1mm or @ .006".

What year motor were your cams out of? |
Re: A good cam question.
it was a really long time ago, but i think it was out of one of the obd0 ones.

Re: A good cam question.
Well, it might be me looking at the glass as half full, but these are out of the OBD1 GSR.
|
Re: A good cam question.
So, is there anyone with a pic of their OBD1 GSR cams, so that I can compare?
