getting my car registered tommorrow... question about tags..

will they give me my tags tomororw as well? or will they give me a temp one?

Its been 15 years since I got tags in Cal. but you should get them that day.

would it be different if my car isnt registred at all? i just bought the car and the tags expired in 02...
