fuel pressure too high
 

255lph walbro, b&m fpr, everthing else stock as far as fuel is concerned. Checked for vacuum leaks and looks ok. What might cause fuel pressure to stabilize at 80psi?

wow 80psi is way to high.

you may have to modify the regulator so that it will allow you to lower the fuel pressure. what's happening is the fuel pump is over flowing the return on the regulator and will not let you lower the pressure anymore.

by doing this: http://www.theoldone.com/articles/regulator/

you can use the B&M regulator to lower the fuel pressure even more.

OR instead of doing that just but a good aeromotive regulator and be done with it.

wow, this is very interesting. Will buy better FPR very soon. Thank you for the info. By the way wondering how safe and effective it would be with the hole in the stock FPR? how much would pressure drop? thanks again, saved my life

Getting another FPR will not fix anything unless it is already broken. So you can only have the following problems.
The FPR is not sensing the vacuume
The FPR is broken
Or you have a cloge in your return line

I doubt the pump is flowing so much that your return line cannot handel it. If you do get a a new or modded FPR it will still not fix your problem because you will still have a too small return line.

I think that maybe the FPR is broken because when I try to adjust fuel pressure, the guage hardly moves, it stays around 80 psi. could it be that the diaphram in the FPR is stuck closed? Its been 3 days since I last fired up the car, and fuel pressure still has not reached zero (its at 38 psi) . The regulator is not releasing the built up pressure back to the tank. I do not believe its a clogged return line, but I will check that to be sure. More thoughts appreciated
