Engine Year question

I was bored and wanted to know the year of my engine,i was told it was a 2000 b18c1 when i bought it. so i looked at the stamps above the header and it reads like this /1 - 1/ - 1/7 -9/ so does this mean i have a 2001 motor https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Looks like it, all the 2000 ones I have seen have a 00 on the front left side in the series of numbers.

Look at the serial # stamped in the block (not the head).

After B18C1 the 1st digit of the serial # is supposed to be the year, but interpreted like this... B18C1 was first available in 1994, so if the first digit is 1 it's a '94. If your engine is '00 the first digit should be 7.

My 2001 B18C1 swap has a 0/0 on the first stamp on top of the exhaust manifold, I know for sure its a 2001 because I also carfaxed it.

That is because it may have been cast in 2000, and not installed on the line untill later on.

"Motors that are casted as 6 month or later are put into the next production year. So if the head had 91 then a 6-11, it would be from a 92 model car." - VTECVillain
