Well nothing new building an LS motor and I have a question for the professional engine builders out there, I myself have fully built a 350 v8 ( build meaning micrometer everything on the engine, crank, pistons, valves, cylinders, and including timing the camshaft). I want to know would it be ok to measure the cylinder with a cylinder bore type measuring tool or using the telescoping t-gauge, where you would have to micrometer the gauge after removing from cylinder. Reason being I dont want to spend an extra 200 dollars on a decent set of telescoping gauges that i'll use once in a blue moon.

I would highly suggest at least an inside micromoeter to get anything accurate. If you went this route, you will have to check the bore at several positions, and axes it ensure the bore is not tapered or out of round.

T-gauges can work just fine as long as they are level and capable of holding the measurement without moving.

This what I thought, but I wanted to make sure this was a good way to measure. I dont want to spend money on tools I dont need. thanks

Have you though about having a shop "mic" them for you?
