EMP Hardness
 

As the world situation becomes more precarious, some thought should be given to the possibility that some opponent X might explode a high yield weapon at high altitude over some US city. My understanding is that the EMP from such an event would wipe out the ECU as well as radios, sensors, etc. of essentially all cars and trucks within some radius of the event almost instantaneously, bringing traffic to a halt (actually, one huge crash). Does anyone know whether Honda engineers have ever addressed this problem, what are the equations, and are pre-1976 cars different enough to require different consideration ? Perhaps a more fundamental Question is how does one contact Honda engineering to get some answer to this problem ? Thanks !

Lol, disabled vehicles will the least of our worries when that happens. The EMP blast zone is generally smaller than the radiation zone. The radiation zone is also smaller than the area where you'll be blinded by the flash.

Since vacuum-assisted brakes will still stop w/o a running engine or computer, it's not exactly going to be a big crash for everyone due to EMP effects.

you need to wrap your entire car in tin foil ! windows will be a challenge, but if you can find the transparent aluminum like used in Star Trek IV you will be O.K.
