Dyno Q's
Im looking at the Crower dyno for their LS cam #62403 and #62404. They say the RPM range is 1,000-8,000 for the #62403 and 1,100-8,200 for the #62404. However, when I look at the dyno, their max RPM is 7k on the #62404 and 7,500 on the #62503.
Can anyone explain to me why it's not run up to 8k? |

because there retarded?
maybe they didnt have the valvetrain setup. (dont ask me why..) or maybe the cam makes the most power before 7000. |

i have 403's and they make peak power just under 7000rpm. the 404s make peak power just over 7000rpm.
the reason they say you can rev to 8k+ is because the torque band still pulls up to that rpm range............. even though they dont make peak power up that high they sure do pull pretty good up there http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif |

The reason why their dynos don't go up to 8000RPM is quite simple. A stock B18B can't rev that high without blowing up. You would need to upgrade virtually every moving part in that motor to safely rev that high. Also, the rev limit on a B18B ECU is 6800RPM. I find it interesting that they are able to rev above 6800RPM with the 62403 without a modified ECU. Or did they just fail to mention any ECU mods? I also find it most interesting that their more aggressive cam lost less low end and midrange power.

Thanks...so with Ferrea valves, springs, port and polihs, etc, you think its a good investment?
