Distributor Wiring
1 Attachment(s)
I got a JDM ZC SOHC VTEC with OBD-1 engine and prior to shipping to the U.S. they cut the distributor wires for for one of the plugs (the blue and black with yellow stripe). Question is can I replace this harness plug without having to buy an entire new distributor. Does anyone sell just the harness plug that I can splice to the cut existing wires or replace all the wiring altogether on the distributor?

Re: Distributor Wiring
Well you have both of the plugs, so I'd say, back the pins out of the connector, and find two terminals that have a longer length, and then solder them or crimp them. Backing the pins out is not hard, if you have spare plugs practice on those first. Use a sewing needle if you don't have a pin tool.
Step one: Remove the plastic retainer from the inside of the plug, it clips in. Step two: Clean the pins with brake cleaner. Step three: Wiggle them back and forth, and push the wire from the backside, towards the front of the plug. Step four: At the same time as step three, use your needle and push the retaining tab upwards, and then pull the wire straight out. Step five: Reinstall the wire grommet on the new terminals, and compare the replacements, they need to match. Step six: Simply push the new terminals into the plug. A click will be heard. Then pull backwards with slight pressure. If they hold in place, re-seat the grommet, and solder/splice. |
