What are the real benefits of a Dart block besides being brand new? And how much will all of the sensors cost?

from virgin material, much much much stronger than a honda block
they come in prebored sizes with sleeves

I only know of two cars with these although I am sure there are more

I would like to get the B20 and bore it to 2.26 with GE sleeves, so what would teh difference be in doing it with Dart or OEM?

For 2.26L

bore= 87mm
stroke= 95mm

the dart block is a closed deck design, compared to the open deck design of the block it replaces.

for a turbo/FI/SC/nitrous person, it's what they need...

dunno how much they cost, but it should be worth it if you're making some serious horsepower.

Oh, I see now. You said you were going to bore to 2.26 L. I didn't realize you were stroking the engine as well.

To add to this, the closed block is stronger than the open deck because there is suport to the top of the sleeves giving them more strength.

I assume the dart block uses stock sensors...most honda sensors are all the same from engine to engine, so you can probably get used ones cheap.

how about this.


oem block golden eagle/aebs/darton/rs machine sleeves, sleeves can be had for what $750 or so?? just as good as dart, maybe better..want a deck plate...add on another $350 or so.........so ya got a sleeved deckplate block for $1050

dart block, $2000 just for the bare block, and what happens when you fuck the block up?(rod through the side) do you want to spend another $2000 on the bare block.

its simple, dart is not the way to go.

well the another day i actually ordered my block and i've just gotten it. on the box it says 74lbs. Everything on your stock block you can use on the dart. The differents between the b18 and b20 and that the b20 is the one with the extra height. From talking to Tom from Payn Tech your going to have some clearance problem the your hood. The b18 you can get in 84.5mm thats the one i got. I was going to get a whole new rebuild of my botom end thur GEM and i found out to me that i would actually save a couple of hundreds dollars going with the dart block. Also the block is 4 times stonger then the stock. Someone said about what would happen if a pistons was to go thur it. Also talking to Tom from Payn Tech that the block is reWELDable. So how is that going to work and how its goiing to hold after something like that was to happen i have no clue. Anything else i can try to answer?

Ok, I contacted VSracingparts.com about having a B20 bored to 87mm and stroked to 95mm then sleeved with GE sleeves, and he said "it won't handle boost. theres no possible way."

I think I'm not getting through to him what I want to do or he is not right in the head. Cause in my understanding, you SLEEVE a block so it CAN handle boost? What's going on?

At an 87mm bore on any B-series motor just how much material do you expect to be left between the cylinders? Thus is why 87 mm + boost is just a very bad idea.

not sure if someone mentioned it yet, but dart blocks also have a raised deck so you don't have to use a deck plate to acheive optimal r/s ratios. And like someone else said, they are closed deck. If you weigh the cost per value per quality, the dart blocks aren't a bad way to go.

Given the "issues" some people have with GE, there's something to be said for a block build right the first time, rather than one "fixed" after the fact.

It doesn't work like that. If you bored stock sleeves to 87mm I don't think you would have a sleeve left.

You have to sleeve the block first, and then bore that. The aftermarket sleeves are thicker and stronger then the oem sleeves, but 87mm bore is really pushing it on them. I've seen pics off GE sleeved blocks bored to 85, but the wall still looks really thin. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif
