Default could bent valves 'flat-spot' the rod bearings?

I was doing some searching yesterday and came across this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=880282 and that question got me really curious. I recently bought a B16a w/bent valves and I'm curious for an answer to that guy's question.

Also, what kind of damge if any could have been done to the actual casting of the head, besides the replaceable stuff like valve/spring/guide/seat/etc.?

IF you drop a valve or bend a valve or maybe even worse break the head off a valve it can be repaired most of the , if you take it to a very good machine shop. There is only one machine shop around here that I trust to repair the damage that a broken valve will do...but yes its ok to sand and reshape the combustion chamber by rewelding but make sure they know what they are doing.

Most of the time you destroy the **** out of aftermarkey piston and usaully put holes in OEM pistons when you bend or break the heads off the valves but I've never personally hurt any bearing or rods.

Welding the combustion chamber and then machining the material? Wow, That must be very pricey.

I need to start practicing tigging on some combustion chambers

I have a head that did snap a valve but as far as I could tell with a quick look-over, there was no damage to the piston or combustion chamber. I was just wondering/curious about the bearings after reading that thread though. Thanks for the help.

On the endyn site they used a tig to place 4 equally spaced beads on the inside perimiter of the valve seats but not near the aluminum. THen the seats just shrink up and you can get them out easily. Be careful tigging near the seats i guess. But to the ops question yes this can do some damage to the crankshaft bearings. Not too likely but can be done . You would usually have to have a valve break off and some upper chamber damage though.
