Coolant Question!!!Help!
I have a GSR turbo del sol and it keeps over heating. It will idel no problem with no issues. I replaced the termostat and I filled it up with the heater on and now I see no air pockets exiting anymore and its totally full. With the cap off I can see the fluid cycling around so im pretty sure the water pump is fine. MY question is if there is too much anitfreeze and not enough water will this cause it to overheat? I dont think my mix is 50/50 I think theres way more freeze then water....
Any help please?? Thanks! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |

Water is a better coolant than antifreeze. Don't take this as a recommendation to run ONLY water, because you need the anti-corrosion stuff that comes with anti-freeze. But go ahead & make it 50/50. |
Re: Coolant Question!!!Help! (JimBlake)
I think its more because I added way too much coolant. So do you think I could flush it with a hose and then fill it with water and then go drive it see if that fixs my problem and if it does drain it as good as I can then 50/50 it?

How much anti-freeze did you add? Remember that not all drains out, even when you open the block drain. IIRC, my GSR would hold maybe 1/2 gallon so after rinsing I'd add 1 gal antifreeze & 1/2 gal water.
Hydrometers aren't too expensive, test the strength that way. |
