cold problem
i just changed out my antifreeze/coolant in my car and since it has got a lot colder when i drive my car the car is always cold. Like never warms up. Then sometimes when its sitting it will warm up again. The anitfreeze is cold to the touch when i feel it after driving it. I was driving it for a good hour and half last night and I tried hitting vtec on the highway and it wouldn't kick since the ecu thought the car was cold. Is there a problem with something? The car has never done this for the 5 years.

Re: cold problem (Liquidgsr)
Ummm, no, probably more like you've got a lot of air in the system. Did you bleed it out at the bleeder valve? Have you opened the radiator cap to see if you are low on coolant?

Re: cold problem (Perfectionist)
haven't bleeded the the system..how do i do that? I have checked..It was flowing in the tube that goes the over flow resevoir, but nothing left in the resevoir itself...so i think ill get some more and add it.

Re: cold problem (Liquidgsr)
it's ur thermostat....happened to me last winter...easy to change...make sure u ground the wire back once it's done or else ur car won't start....the thermostat is sticking open because its stuck...so it's always flowing the coolant through ur system....and when ur stopped, ur coolant isn't flowing through as much....it has nothing to do with air getting in ur system.....like i said, it's easy to change it, ive chaged mine myself, and it's cheap at the dealer.....good luck

Every time the engine heats up, coolant is supposed to go into the reservoir. When it cools down it's supposed to suck back in. If it's sucking air back in, THERE's your problem.
Still, you should use the bleeder screw near the upper radiator hose nozzle, to get all the air out of the system. |
