Cold Idle Problem

Well I have Jun 3 cams and ECU with a ITR intake manifold.

Recently my car has developed a chronic idling problem when it's cold. It will idle fine when I first start it, but once I step on the gas the car would drop the idle. It jumps between 500-1000, and sooner or later the motor stalls.

I don't know what to check. The car has 116k miles so I am sure something needs to be changed.

Thanks,
CB

Hmm.. I don't know.. The last time I saw a car stalling, it was because of the fuel filter, fuel injector main relay, and the distributor.. Maybe you might want to check into that.. But if it's fuel, are you getting enough fuel?? If not, and it's not the relay and filter, maybe it's the fuel pressure regulator and it's vacumm diagphram.. Not sure if it helps, but if you want more info, let me know.. Pretty much been telling everyone to check the same things lately, you'll find more info in other posts that I've replied to. Good Luck

Re: Cold Idle Problem (PnX-R)

Thanks for the suggestions. It only happens when it's cold. Once the engine is warmed up the car idles perfectly.

I have changed the distributor cap and rotor. Fuel filter was changed 15k miles ago. I don't kow how to check the main relay, but I don't think it's any of the above, because the problem goes away after the engine is warm.

Someone else said it might be an idle air control valve. I have no idea what or how to check this valve.

Thanks in advance,
CB
