Cluster problem
Hey guys, I have a problem. I recently purchased a 94' EG6 (not import) with a B16A swap. I soon realized that I made a shit move and I think im going to stay with it. The cluster in the car reads temp. speed, and rpm. The only problem is it isn't reading the fuel. I've talked to my friend and he said it could be a variety of things such as the floater in the tank, the tank itself, the fuel feed line, fuses, the voltage limiter, or the sending unit. Which just sent my mind spinning. any suggestions as to what i should do, and if possible, could it be a DIY job or should I get a mechanic to fix it.

Re: Cluster problem
You should be able to do it yourself.
Start by finding out what the problem is, a simple test is to unplug the sending unit and using a 12V test light with the ground clip grounded to chassis, ign. switch on, touch the test probe to the lead in the plug that is for the gauge, [yellow/black or yellow white] and see if gauge moves, if it moves, replace the sending unit, if not you will have to do the same, [test light] at the back of the cluster, [leave plug at sending unit unplugged and cluster plugged in] again, test light probe into sending units lead, if gauge still will not move replace gauge, if gauge does move, find break in lead between sending unit and gauge. 94 |
